ABOUT OCO's CPR & First Aid Certification Classes
Most classes are open to the public.  Priority given to OCO employees who require this training for their jobs (exception - Community CPR courses, which are filled on a first come, first served basis). 

OCO employees are strongly urged to purchase a textbook at least one week before class.  ($12 - $15, depending on course) Textbook purchase is not required to take the course.  Books are available in the classroom 1/2 hour before class begins.  Students are welcome to arrive early and read through the text material before class begins.  Books may be purchased, if desired, at the end of the class.  OCO employees may sign out and borrow textbooks at any time for the purposes of preparing for an upcoming class or as a refresher between renewal dates.

$ 40   HeartSaver AED (Adult/Child CPR*) & First Aid
           *Infant CPR can be added upon request for no additional charge.  Let your instructor know that you'd like to learn Infant CPR, on the day of your class.

There are no BLS Renewal courses scheduled for the remainder of 2011.
          We will come to you, if you have 5 or more students.  Site visitation required, prior to scheduling.

FAMILY DEVELOPMENT CREDENTIALING

Empowerment Skills for Family Workers: Class meets from 9AM - 4PM every other Thursday.  Students learn the principles of asset-based human service work and practice the family development approach to working with families and individuals.  In addition to class time, students will compile a portfolio of skills practices and other activities to extend learning.  Click here for brochure.

The disconnection of a child/youth from his/her past is frequently a result of placement and/or adoption produced by the severing of important connections that existed prior to placement, and by the failure to help the child/youth preserve his/her history as a part of his/her identity formation. Research has shown that failure to preserve a child/youth's connection to past history has a long-term effect on the child/youth's self-esteem, self-concept, and ability to form lasting attachments and relationships throughout his/her lifetime. This training will help staff and foster parents use the process of developing a LifeBook/LifePak with a youth as a way to produce a tangible product, while helping the youth explore future goals. - Improve skills associated with knowing when to refer children for evaluation and assessment

BLS Healthcare Provider Online Renewal Course
For healthcare providers who are unable to attend a classroom based renewal course.  This course is also appropriate for students certifying for the first time.  There is a fee for the online course: currently $17.50.
After completing the online course, you will need to schedule a skills test with a certified AHA Instructor.  Additional fees ($20 payable at the time of your appointment) apply for the skills testing portion.

These courses are for OCO, Inc. employees.
