Blizzard Bags for OCO Senior Services
It’s that time of year again to start thinking about Blizzard Bags. These bags are created and delivered during the winter months to provide an emergency supply of food to the seniors we serve. We are asking volunteers; schools, local organizations and individuals to make donations of food and paper bags needed to create the Blizzard Bags. We also create Pet Blizzard Bags so pet food has been added to our wish list.

Anyone is welcome to undertake all aspects of design and creation of the blizzard bags.

If interested in making this an individual or group project, full instructions are available.

The following is a list of items we are requesting to create these bags:

¨ Paper bags #20 - decorated

¨ Oatmeal packets

¨ Ramen noodles/soup packets

¨ Cereal bars

¨ Small Packaged crackers

¨ Small Packaged cookies

¨ Small juice bottles/juice boxes

¨ Hot Cocoa packets

¨ Tea bags

¨ Hard candies

¨ Cat and Dog food

If you’re interested in donating food items, time or creativity please contact:

Christine Parks @ 598-4712 ext 1807

or our Mexico Kitchen at 5871 Scenic Ave. – Anytime between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Volunteer Opportunities - Meals On Wheels program
Submitted by Christine Prevost - Training Coordinator
OCO Nutrition Services recruits volunteer drivers for the Meals On Wheels program throughout the year.  Many routes can be accomplished in 30 to 60 minutes.  I volunteer 1/2 hour each week to deliver meals to a site located one mile from where I work. If you cannot commit to a weekly obligation, consider signing up as a substitute delivery volunteer, and just help out when you can.
