The MHTL Program is for adults (must be at lest 18 years of age) with a diagnosed psychiatric illness (requires psychiatrist's authorization) who have a desire to receive staff assistance to stabilize and become more independent with daily living skills. The program offers three levels of residential programming with various levels of rehabilitative services. Programs are voluntary and residents length of stay varies as it is dependent upon choice, need and achievement of their goals. Residents can select from a variety of services including: Medication Management, Symptom Management, Skill Development, Rehab Counsel, Community Integration, Socialization Skills, Assertiveness Training, Daily Living Skills, and Coordination with Health Services, Substance Abuse Services and Parenting Skills. Residents and staff work together to develop goal treatment plans and staff provide the desired services to assist with growth toward a lifestyle of increased independence. The Program philosophy is focused on assisting adults with a mental illness to achieve their highest level of independent functioning and to move on to independent living of their choice in the community.
The MHTL Crisis Bed is located at the Supervised Residence and is intended to assist persons with immediate needs and 24-hour supervision for a short term (1-14 days). Services are intended to assist with avoiding unnecessary or lengthy psychiatric hospital stays and to assist with returning to their own home following a lengthy hospital stay. Staff assist with Medication and Symptom Management, Daily Living Skills and referral to community supports. Services must be authorized by the treating psychiatrist and/or Oswego Hospital Behavioral Services Division - Inpatient Unit.
