Plans offered in NY State of Health will continue to be available in four easy-to-compare metal tiers (platinum, gold, silver and bronze). Plans on the Marketplace will cover doctor’s visits; hospital stays; emergency care; maternity and newborn care; mental health and substance abuse disorder services; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services; chronic disease management and pediatric dental and vision. Some plans will offer additional benefits such as adult dental and vision. Additional details about the plans offerings will be available in October 2014.

Individuals and families with incomes at or below certain levels ($46,680 for individuals and $95,400 for a family of four) may be eligible for financial assistance in the form of federal tax credits to help them pay for the monthly cost of coverage. In 2014, nearly three-quarters of individuals and families qualified for this financial assistance. New Yorkers may use the calculator on the New York State of Health website (nystateofhealth.ny.gov) to estimate their eligibility for tax credits; see: info.nystateofhealth.ny.gov/calculator

The next open enrollment period for individuals and families begins on November 15, 2014 for coverage starting on January 1, 2015. Enrollment in Medicaid and Child Health Plus is open all year. Small businesses with 50 of fewer employees can enroll anytime during the year.
