Substitute Advisor - Homeless Services

Grade 6 - Start Rate $12.50 per hour
Works as needed and scheduled (Fill in for staff absences, holidays, and weekends)
Location: Fulton with some travel to Oswego
Substitute Advisors work on an as needed basis and/or a pre-scheduled basis in a runaway and homeless youth shelter. Candidates selected for employment must be available to work on short notice to cover staff absences including sick leave, vacations and holidays.
Homeless Services Substitute Advisors provide oversight to ensure the safety and well-being of youth in shelter and a youth transitional living program, act as a positive role model for youth, assist in providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling and respond to the Homeless Services Hotline. Additionally, Substitute Staff assist with preparation of meals, assist with housekeeping and general maintenance of the house, provide transportation as needed, provide First Aid and monitor medications when necessary. Selected staff must have the ability and desire to relate well with youth. Staff must have acceptable ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position including readily negotiating stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds and transporting.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent and 12 months related experience. In order to be hired for this position, candidates must have a valid New York State Driver's License with a driving record within policy and access to a properly insured vehicle for travel and transport.
