MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST
Full-time – 35 hours per week
Grade 8 - Start Rate $14.55 per hour
Thursday – 8:00 am to 10:00 am
Friday – 4:00 pm to 1:30 am on Saturday
Saturday – 4:15 pm to 12:15 am on Sunday
Sunday – Noon to 8:00 pm
Monday – Noon to 9:30 pm
Location: TL Supervised Residence in Fulton
The Transitional Living Program has announced the availability of one position to perform a variety of administrative/casework activities and implement individual action plans within the Mental Health TL Supervised Residence Program.
The selected candidate will provide supervision, support, counseling, crisis intervention, leisure activities, and daily living activities, oversight of medication administration, transportation, socialization and assist with maintenance and daily upkeep of the Residence.
The selected candidate will carry a caseload of SMI adults and perform direct Medicaid billing and must have working knowledge of the principles of normalization, philosophies and techniques of programming for special populations, be familiar with Mental Health diagnoses, and be able to relate with clients and their families in a warm and professional manner. Additionally, the selected candidate must possess acceptable physical health to negotiate stairs and have the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds regularly.
In order to be hired for this position, the candidate must have a valid New York State Driver’s License with a good driving record and access to a reliable, properly insured vehicle for travel and client transport throughout the area.
Minimum qualifications for the position include a Qualified Mental Health Staff designation, graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State Registered College or University with an Associate's Degree in Behavioral Sciences; OR satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours at a regionally accredited or New York State Registered College or University with at least 15 hours in Behavioral Sciences; OR graduation from High School and five years’ experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
