OCO Giving Thanks Event to host Art auction

Oswego County Opportunities has added something new to its upcoming “Giving Thanks” event…an art auction!

In addition to the delectable foods and beverages that “Giving Thanks” is known for, attendees will have the opportunity to view and bid on a selection of artwork created by OCO staff, volunteers, and consumers. The OCO art auction will feature a collection of paintings, drawings, stylish photographs and more that will be available via a silent auction that will take place during OCO’s Annual “Giving Thanks” event.

“We’re excited to be adding the OCO art auction to ‘Giving Thanks,’” said OCO Development Coordinator Dolbear. “It’s a rare opportunity to own a truly unique piece of artwork. It was interesting to see how many talented artists have ties to OCO.”

With each artist donating their time, talent and artwork to OCO the proceeds from the OCO art auction will support OCO’s “Building Futures, Changing Lives” initiative, which focuses on empowering people to create a better life for themselves and their families and improves the quality of life in our communities as a result.

The Lisa Lee Dou will provide the entertainment for the OCO’s annual “Giving Thanks” fundraiser.

The Lisa Lee Duo (pictured here) performs a wide range of hits from several decades of music, mixing a variety of musical genres including classic rock, modern and classic country, oldies, blues, pop, jazz and more. The Lisa Lee Duo, led by Lisa Lee’s sultry, soulful voice, featuring a dusky blues tonality and silky sweetness that sets her apart from other local vocalists, has made the band one of the most popular in Central New York.

The event serves as an opportunity to highlight OCO’s many programs and services as well as a fundraiser to ensure that OCO will be able to maintain and continue to make these programs and services available. Set for Friday, Nov. 1, at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center on E. First Street in Oswego, OCO’s “Giving Thanks” event offers attendees a varied assortment of autumn inspired food and refreshments from some of Oswego County’s finest restaurants and eateries. Food stations throughout the venue will feature harvest season delicacies paired with wine and beer samples especially chosen to complement each food choice.

OCO Giving Thanks Set for November 1st

OCO, the community action agency for Oswego County, will hold its annual Giving Thanks fundraiser on Friday, November 1 at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center in Oswego.

Established more than 53 years ago, OCO offers more than 50 different human services programs that serve over 20,000 people annually. These programs strive to eliminate the impact of poverty and increase the quality of life in Oswego County. That, combined with a staff of more than 600 employees, makes OCO one of the most vital organizations in Oswego County.

OCO’s Giving Thanks event serves as a vehicle to highlight its many programs and services and as a fundraiser to ensure that OCO will be able to maintain and continue to make these programs and services available.

This year’s event will support OCO’s “Building Futures, Changing Lives” campaign,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier. “We value the ideal that people are strong and capable and have a right to, and deserve, a better life. We strive to empower the people we serve to make that value a reality and improve the quality of life in our communities.”

In keeping with its theme of giving thanks the event will feature an assortment of autumn inspired food and refreshments. Food stations throughout the venue will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy harvest season delicacies from some of the area’s finest restaurants and eateries including: Alex’s on the Water, The Eis House, and GS Steamers and many more. Additional stations will offer choices from Cake Commanders and OCO Nutrition Services to name a few. Wine and beer samples from Eagle Beverage will be expertly paired with the foods featured at each station.

In addition to the tempting variety of food and beverages there will be a number of drawings, and new this year, an art auction featuring artwork created by OCO consumers and staff. Live entertainment for the evening will be provided by one of Central New York’s favorites, the Lisa Lee Duo.
