OCO Welcomes The Imperial Outlanders to Bowl-A-Fun

OCO Welcomes The Imperial Outlanders to Bowl-A-Fun

Committee members for Oswego County Opportunities’ “May the Fourth be With You” Bowl-A-Fun have announced that the event will feature an appearance from some very special guests, the Imperial Outlanders Emerald Empire Detachment.

A non-profit world-wide Star Wars© costume club, The Imperial Outlanders was founded 4 years ago in England by Alea Holland. To date there are more than 1700 members all over the globe. The Emerald Empire Detachment was established as a squad in New York in 2017. The organization focuses on building a great community of costumed fans. “Our organization is founded on the premise that all levels of costume accuracy are acceptable,” said Squad Leader James Cheeseman. ”We welcome those that are passionate about costuming.”

The Imperial Outlanders Emerald Empire Squad prides itself in being a fun loving group that does charity work and offers free appearances.

“Everybody deserves a chance to be happy,” said Cheeseman. “If we can distract you from your worries and make you smile even for a few minutes we did our jobs. We love Star Wars© and are passionate about sharing that love with other Star Wars© fans. One interaction could be all it takes to inspire somebody to follow their dreams, Even if it isn't costuming. If our appearance helps to raise money for the charity, that's a bonus we can be proud of.

Members of the Imperial Outlanders Emerald Empire Squad will be in full Star Wars© attire and will be available for photos with fans of all ages. To add to the excitement, Cheeseman said that he heard through the imperial grapevine Darth Vader will be making an appearance!

“We’re excited to welcome the Imperial Outlanders Emerald Empire Squad to our Bowl-A-Fun,” said Planning Committee Member Betsy Copps. “They are perfect complement to our ‘May the Fourth be With’ You theme. The Imperial Outlanders Emerald Empire Squad’s presence in their stunning costumes and their interaction with our Bowl-A-Fun participants is a can’t miss opportunity for Star Wars© and Sci-Fi fans of all ages.”

As in the past, OCO is encouraging bowlers to be creative with their attire. “We’ve seen teams dress in some very clever and unique outfits” said OCO Development Coordinator Bridget Dolbear.  “With our theme of ‘May the Fourth be With You’ bowlers can really stretch their imagination and dress as their favorite science fiction character or super hero.”

OCO’s “May the Fourth be With You” Bowl-A-Fun will be held Saturday, May 4th at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton. Proceeds from the event will support OCO’s effort to do “whatever it takes” to help families succeed through empowerment, support, and connecting them with the resources that can help them do so.

A few team slots remain, but space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Secure your team’s spot today by visiting www.oco.org for a registration form.
