Each year, our incredible volunteers dedicate countless hours to empowering individuals,
supporting families, and strengthening our community. Their time and talent make a meaningful
difference, helping OCO serve thousands of people across Oswego County.

We invite you to become part of the OCO family.

Whether you’re assisting at an event, supporting a program, or lending a hand behind the scenes,
your contributions can help change lives and build a stronger community.

Volunteer FAQ

Who can volunteer?
Anyone aged 18 and older is welcome to volunteer with OCO.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
Please fill out our volunteer application. We’ll be in touch soon to guide you through the process.

How often do I need to volunteer?
There’s no strict requirement, but we encourage volunteers to aim for at least 40 hours of service per year. This helps us maximize the resources we invest in welcoming and onboarding our amazing volunteers. Whether you can give a few hours each week, help at events, or support special projects, every contribution makes a difference!

Where can I volunteer?
OCO offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities to match your skills and interests. You could work directly with individuals and families in need, assist behind the scenes, or support programs like youth outreach, crisis interventions, education, health, and nutrition. You can also lend your expertise in areas like accounting, human resources, or IT.
Volunteer opportunities exist in classrooms, kitchens, community centers, and more. Whatever your passion, there’s a place for you to make a difference with OCO!

Can my family, kids, pets, or spouse volunteer with me?
While we love the idea of families volunteering together, our general policy is that volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Pets, except for legal service animals, are not permitted on-site during volunteer activities.

If you have specific concerns or unique circumstances, please contact your Volunteer Manager. They may be able to find a way to accommodate your situation!

What kind of accommodations are available for volunteers?
At OCO, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all volunteers. If you need accommodations to perform your volunteer duties, we’re here to help. Whether it’s related to a disability, medical condition, or other needs, we’ll work with you to provide reasonable accommodations in line with applicable laws.

We believe everyone has something valuable to contribute, and we’re dedicated to ensuring you feel supported and empowered as part of the OCO team.
