In light of the Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding Roe V. Wade, we believe it important to affirm OCO’s position that all people deserve access to safe, legal, and accessible sexual and reproductive healthcare.

This position is rooted in our commitment to protecting basic human rights, informed choice, and person-centered care. While the Supreme Court has decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, allowing states to ban or restrict abortion care, abortion continues to be legal nationwide, including in New York State.

Laws that prevent people from governing what happens to their own bodies disproportionately harm survivors of abuse, LGBTQIA2S communities, Black, Brown and indigenous communities, people with disabilities, persons trying to make ends meet and all who live along these intersections.

We support the right of people to consult their own faith and conscience as they make decisions about their health, including pregnancy and parenting. These are important and deeply personal decisions.

OCO is committed to a future where all of us have the freedom to control our own bodies, safely care for our families, and live with dignity, so our communities can thrive.
