OSWEGO COUNTY- Oswego County Mobility Management announces Oswego County public transit services will not operate on Monday, April 8 due to increased traffic expected by the total solar eclipse. The only transit service that will still occur on April 8 is dialysis transportation.

“Due to the heavy traffic that is anticipated for the solar eclipse, we have made the decision to cancel transportation services on Monday, April 8,” said Oswego County Mobility Management Director Heather Snow. “With the congestion of traffic and influx of visitors that are expected for this event, we wanted to avoid having riders on the bus for prolonged periods of time or the possibility of anyone being stuck at a destination due to traffic delays. We will still run our transportation for dialysis patients, but all other services are canceled for the day.”

Centro buses will still be operating on eclipse day for those who need transportation. To view a Centro bus schedule, visit https://511ny.org/.

The total eclipse will be viewable throughout Oswego County, with start and end times for the event varying by location. Generally, it begins shortly after 2 p.m. locally, with totality starting and ending shortly before 3:30 p.m. Following totality, the eclipse continues as the moon moves across the sun, before concluding shortly after 4:30 p.m.
